Final phase of Grand Avenue traffic study feedback sought through mid-December

As travel stalled to and from a recent open house, hosted by the Maricopa Association of Governments, a similar gridlock of people stood in a room lined with displayed proposals about easing traffic congestion along US 60/Grand Avenue between Loop 303 and State Route 74 in Surprise.

City of Surprise Vice Mayor Nick Haney and Lisa Everett, Arizona LD29 Republicans chair, were among the crowd attending a Nov. 13 open house held at Asante Preparatory Academy, 23251 N. 166th Drive in Surprise, where attendees gave more feedback regarding a study on improving that northwest Valley stretch of US 60/Grand Avenue between 163rd Avenue and Loop 303, which has about 60,000 vehicles per day commuting.

MAG has partnered with the Arizona Department of Transportation, Maricopa County Department of Transportation, plus the cities of Surprise and Peoria on the improvement study nearing completion for the project addressing the problematic corridor. Public input will be accepted through Dec. 15 for those who missed the in-person open house.
