Final counts point to Beck as new Peoria mayor

Binsbacher posts letter of concession

With one of the most heated races for Peoria mayor in recent memory nearly complete, it appears newcomer and local businessman Jason Beck will take the city’s highest office.

In a statement posted to social media, Nov. 14, Beck said that last year, he and his wife, Jane, made the decision to run for mayor after many residents called for fresh ideas and a focus on putting public safety and economic development first.

“Our message of helping Peoria realize its full potential has been the theme of this campaign and it will stay in the front of my heart after I am sworn in as mayor for all of Peoria. I want to thank Bridget Binsbacher for her service on the Peoria council. Jane and I have a new appreciation for how difficult campaigns can be, and Bridget and her family worked hard in this race. ...," he said. "Lastly, I have to thank God, my wife Jane, and my six sons. All of them worked alongside me through every step of this campaign. ... I look forward to all of us working together for Peoria to realize its full potential.”
