Federal shutdown not affecting Valley real estate market

Scottsdale less affected than most

The federal government shutdown is now officially the longest in history.

It’s had profound effects to government services like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and it’s effect on the lives of the average American is debatable, but it does not appear to be affecting the real estate market, according to Phoenix REALTORS Board President Christy Walker.

“Government-backed loans are still going through,” she said. “It has had an effect of a bit of delay on some of the items that are required for those fundings, such as underwriters wanting (federal documents). It may take longer to get now because of fewer workers but all in all, government loans are still going through.”
