Federal relief package headed to Peoria

The city of Peoria is waiting to receive its share of relief funds from the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act. In the meantime, city officials have huddled up and now have a pretty good idea how the funds will be used.

The city is expecting to receive about $20 million in direct aid from the federal government — about $10 million of it is expected no later than May 11, and the other $10 million is expected a year after that.
Amounts are similar to last year’s CARES Act, but this time around funds will come with federal guidelines to follow.
