Federal plan leaves Scottsdale in water limbo

Scottsdale leaders are still figuring out what the Department of the Interior’s Plan for Colorado River cuts for the next two years might mean for the city.

The department released its plan Aug. 21, calling for the lower basin states — Arizona, California and Nevada — to cut water consumption by 1.25 million acre feet in each of the next two years.

That breaks down into 760,000 acre feet per year for Arizona; 440,000 acre feet per year in California and 50,000 acre feet per year in Nevada.
