Federal funding to feed seniors and mothers at farmers market slashed

A federal program to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to seniors and low income mothers at the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers Market, which was cut last year, will return this spring ... with half the funding.

The Arizona Farmers Market Nutrition Program has been operating at the market since 2001 before it was canceled in May 2025 for seniors in May and June for mothers.
“We’ve been trying to do other things like folks who have done market vouchers to help until that program starts up again, but that money, we ran out of that, too,” said Scottsdale Farmer’s Market Senior Coordinator Denise “Dee” Logan.
