Federal court rejects $64M lawsuit against Litchfield school district

A federal appeals court has upheld a lower court's ruling against a former Litchfield Elementary School District board member who sought $64 million in a lawsuit alleging the district conspired to silence him and ruin his reputation.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed the judgment granted by the lower courts, effectively ending Jeremy Hoenack’s legal challenge against the district.

Hoenack, who represented himself in the litigation, originally filed the First Amendment lawsuit in 2022. He alleged that the district and various actors conspired to block his speech during governing board meetings and engaged in a campaign of harassment that included publicizing his home address and placing dog feces on his driveway.
