Arizona ranks among the Top 10 states in reported money loss when it comes to elder fraud, which strikes those locally over the age of 60 at a rate of 241 per day.
Those are the most recent figures the FBI released this spring.
Almost 89,000 elder victims across the U.S. in 2022 suffered monetary losses of $3.1 billion. Tech support continued to be the most common fraud reported by seniors, with more than $587 million in losses, according to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center, known as IC3, a central intake point for victims to report fraud.
