It was reported the baby choked while being fed a bottle and when officers arrived, they were handed the baby girl who was unresponsive, according to a Mesa Police Department release.
Lifesaving measures were performed, and the baby was taken to a hospital, where she remained in critical condition.
Investigators learned that Enriquez, 22, was alone with his daughter when she stopped breathing.
“They also discovered that the baby had other injuries in various stages of healing,” the release stated.
The baby was declared dead July 26 at the hospital.
The parents of the girl were interviewed and during the father’s interview “he admitted to striking his child,” according to the release.
He was booked into jail and is being held on a $1 million bond.
