Posted

A victim in a traffic accident that happened at 107th and Northern avenues May 11 has died from her injuries.

Peoria Police detectives were notified May 25 that Abrielle Lopez, of Litchfield Park, a victim in the accident, has died of her injuries in the hospital.

Peoria Police and Peoria Fire-Medical workers responded to an injury collision at that intersection 8:45 p.m. May 11.

The accident involved two vehicles: a silver 2012 Chevrolet Silverado and a red 2018 Honda Civic.

Police say the driver of the Silverado was traveling westbound on Northern Avenue, intending to make a left turn onto 107th Avenue. The driver of the Civic was traveling eastbound on Northern Avenue when both vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection.

Lopez was the passenger in the Civic.

The driver of the Silverado was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver and of the Civic and Lopez were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police said the other individuals who received medical treatment have since been discharged from the hospital.

The Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating this incident. Police said impairment and speed are being investigated as factors of this collision.
