Family of slain Glendale suspect protests, seeks answers

Large group marches on city hall 3 months after fatal incident

A large gathering of family, friends and supporters of a teenager killed during an officer-involved shooting in Glendale more than three months ago descended on city hall Thursday seeking answers.

The investigation into the shooting death of 15-year-old Juan Carlos Bojorquez is ongoing, and the family says it still has not seen all evidence in the case. They also claim that Glendale police publicly released online partial body cam footage of the shooting’s aftermath without being notified first.

“The family three months later has been denied police reports, unredacted body camera footage, and any answers,” Viri Hernandez, executive director of the community organization group Poder in Action, said during Thursday’s press conference in Murphy Park. “Not once have they been called to be given this information. They were not notified that this video of their child being killed was going to be paraded on social media. And so today the family is here to demand answers and to demand justice.”
