Facebook alert, CBP detention leaves West Valley LGBT club president unnerved

A Sun City resident and leader in the local LGBT community is blaming a Facebook designation of her as a “dangerous individual” for getting detained by customs officials when returning from a cruise.

Susie Broussard, president of the LGBT Club of Sun City, was detained Oct. 25 by Customs and Border Protection in San Diego after arriving back to the U.S. from a Mexican cruise.

Broussard, a U.S. citizen, said she believed this was possible before embarking for the trip after she received a message from Meta, Facebook’s parent company, that a picture she posted of herself 18 months earlier wearing a visor that says “Sun City LGBT Club” was flagged.
