Face masks again mandatory at San Tan Foothills High School as COVID cases rise

Beginning Tuesday, San Tan Foothills High School will reinstate the mandatory wearing of masks for students and staff while on campus, in class and for all guests attending all school events until further notice.

In a letter sent to parents, San Tan Foothills Principal Steve Miller stated the school had reported a significant increase in the number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases. Mr. Miller added the school has more active coronavirus cases now than it has had throughout the pandemic. The coronavirus can lead to developing COVID-19.

“While providing high-quality, in-person instruction continues to be our goal, it is imperative to consider the health and safety of our students, staff and families so that we are able to have a successful end to an already challenging school year,” Mr. Miller wrote. “At this time there are numerous students who have been requested to quarantine due to possible exposure. We want to continue to keep our school open so that we can continue to provide in-person instruction and hold an in-person graduation ceremony for our seniors while minimizing additional community spread, but we cannot do this without your assistance.”
