Draft changes to the city of Apache Junction’s zoning code pertaining to fences include prohibiting razor and concertina wire, fabric or tarps were brought to planning commission members for discussion this week.
Six members of the city’s planning and zoning commission were updated on proposed changes to the zoning code at a meeting Jan. 23 with no decision made. Board member Richard Cantwell was absent.
The commission in December 2022 directed city staff to research permitted fencing materials. In February 2023, the commission was updated on preliminary findings. Public hearings will be planned in the future for the changes, Senior Planner Kelsey Schattnik said during the meeting.
