Arizona Department of Public Safety officials are looking for a suspect involved in what is described as a suspicious package found at the Arizona Supreme Court.

Arizona DPS was contacted at 8 a.m. Monday that a suspicious package had been received by the Arizona Supreme Court.

DPS and appropriate local, state and federal agencies are investigating the package, which contained multiple vials, two that tested positive for homemade explosive substance, according to a DPS spokesperson.

Multiple buildings were evacuated on the Capitol Mall, including the State Courts Building, which houses the Arizona Supreme Court and Court of Appeals for Division One.

The State Courts Building remains closed as additional sweeps are taking place. Once that process has been completed, the package will be removed for further investigation and subsequent disposal.

This is currently a joint investigation — more information will be shared when available.
