Experts: WestWorld of Scottsdale running at deficit but generates larger economic impact

WestWorld of Scottsdale is still operating in the red.

The facility ran at a $6.2 million deficit when debt service and one-time repairs were added into last year’s budget and a $4.2 million deficit the year before that.

But the facility’s economic impact is much larger, Alex Keen, with Keen Independent Research, which conducted a study behind WestWorld’s strategic plan, told the Scottsdale City Council during its Feb. 24 meeting.
