Exclusive showings of ‘Oppenheimer After Trinity’ coming to Scottsdale

“Oppenheimer After Trinity” — a Cannes World Film Festival winner for Best Historical Documentary — will be coming to the big screen from July 28–Aug. 3 at Harkins Theater Shea 14 in Scottsdale.

The Arizona premiere comes on the heels of sold-out showings in Los Alamos, New Mexico, former home of Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer, according to a press release.

“Oppenheimer After Trinity” is a thought-provoking and insightful documentary, which features rare and intimate views into the mind of Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer. Created by Phoenix resident and descendant of a Manhattan Project worker, Larry L. Sheffield, the film features rare footage and photographs, along with compelling testimony from Dr. Oppenheimer’s grandson, Charles Oppenheimer.

“I’m humbled by the incredible support and recognition this film has received and am excited to bring it to new audiences in Arizona during these exclusive showings,” filmmaker Sheffield said in the release. “While we’re all celebrating the release of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, it’s the perfect time to dive deeper into the story of the people and places behind the Manhattan Project. ‘Oppenheimer After Trinity’ does just that — including interviews with descendants, rare footage and a dedication to telling the incredible story of world-changing science.”

In addition to sold-out premiere showings in Los Alamos and winning at the Cannes World Film Festival, the film has received widespread international acclaim, winning a variety of awards from film festivals, including Best Educational Film at the World Film Carnival in Singapore, Awards of Excellence in Script Writing and Documentary Short at the Best Shorts Competition in Los Angeles, Best Documentary Short and Best Producer at Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles, and a Platinum Award for Best Documentary Short at Independent Short Awards.

“Oppenheimer After Trinity” will show as a matinee two to three times daily. For more details, showtimes, and tickets (available after July 25), visit https://www.harkins.com/theatres/shea-14.
