Excessive speed has Sun City West residents concerned

Some calling for speed humps

The speed of traffic in Sun City West has residents on alert and wanting solutions.

While the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has been utilizing a speed trailer throughout the community, the only one assigned to District 3 is under repair. Stats from a previous location where the speed trailer was placed were analyzed and according to Michael Redman, MCSO deputy, those were sent up the chain of command and await traffic enforcement instructions.

Residents in attendance at a recent Traffic, Roads and Safety Committee meeting at the Property Owner and Residents Association brought up possible solutions for various roadways in Sun City West. The topic of speed humps in the community was brought to Stephen Doubek, Maricopa County traffic design branch manager, who said emergency services are not in favor of speed humps, but assured the topic would be taken back to county officials.
