Ex-Sun Ayton scores 18 in Phoenix return

PHOENIX — More jeers than cheers were heard every time Deandre Ayton touched the ball as the Portland Trail Blazers took on his former team on Tuesday night.

Ayton backed down Suns center Jusuf Nurkic — the player he was traded for — to score the first two points of the contest.

The tug-of-war matchup ended with Phoenix coming out on top as the Suns (8-6) pulled away from Portland (3-11) and won the game 120-107 in front of 17,071 fans at Footprint Center.
