Eviction filings surge past 7K last month

Eviction filings are surging with no end in sight, pacing at a 14-year high as January numbers were recorded last month.

Last month, there were 7,031 eviction filings in Maricopa County — the busiest month since September 2008, according to Scott Davis of Maricopa County Justice Courts.

January’s number was 13% higher than January 2019 — the year officials have been calling “normal” for pandemic comparisons, Davis said.
