BRADENTON, Fla. - Evangeline "Van" M. (Angelo) Haven of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Sun City, Ariz. and Elmira, N.Y., went to be with the Lord on October 14, 2016 after a brief illness. Van was born in Rochester, N.Y., and graduated from Madison High School in Rochester. She lived in Elmira, N.Y. until 1993, at which time she and her husband, Richard, retired to Sun City, Ariz. Van moved to Bradenton, Fla. in March 2015 where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law. She held secretarial positions for a variety of companies/organizations including Catholic Family Services, Temple B'Nai Israel, Bendix Corp and the Star-Gazette. She retired in 1990 from First Presbyterian Church where she was the secretary. Van is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ross (Marisa) VanDooser; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy (Bill Vinhage) VanDooser; step-grandsons, Kurt (Wendy) Vinhage, Paul (Ashley) Vinhage and Julius Andales; brother, Ralph Angelo, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Emanuel Fico and Anthony Cianca; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dean and Nancy Haven; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Evie and Ronald (Dennis) Woodard; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; grand fur babies, Rocky, Enzo, Buster, Halle and JLo. Van was predeceased in death by husband of 32 years, Richard S. Haven; former husband, Eugene R. VanDooser, of 27 years; mother and father, Ida and Ralph Angelo; mother and father-in-law, Edna and Sterling Haven; former father-in-law, George VanDooser; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Frank Giancursio; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joseph Matrichisa; sister, Evelyn Fico; sister, Gloria (Bonnie) Cianca, sister-in-law, Janet Angelo; and sister-in-law, Alice Corcoran. Van was a loving mother, wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. She was a kind, caring, compassionate person who always placed others ahead of herself. Despite working full time while raising a family, Van always had time for a friend or family member in need and served as a caregiver to many people over her life. She will be remembered for always having a smile on her face despite whatever problems she faced or pain she might have been experiencing. She was an inspiration to all those whose path she crossed. Family and friends called from 9:30 - 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at St. John's Nepomucene Roman Catholic Church, at the corner of Exchange and High Streets in Troy, PA. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12th at the church. Burial followed in Columbia Valley Cemetery. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr., Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, it was Van's wish that memorial donations be made to either: Tidewell Hospice Bradenton 3355 26th St W, Bradenton, FL 34205, with a specific designation that the donation is for the Bradenton Hospice House, or to Sunshine Service 9980 W.
