Ethel Deane Carey, 81, of Sun City, Arizona, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ. Ethel was born on July 7, 1935 in Rehoboth, New Mexico to Simon and Willemina Vanderwagen.She was predeceased by her husband Roland Alfred Carey and grandson Scott Allen Carey. She is survived by her son Jeffery Carey and wife Robin of Roswell, NM, son Michael Carey of Sun City, AZ, grandson Cody Carey and great granddaughter Samantha Carey of Roswell, NM. Ethel worked as a teacher and educator in Zuni and Gallup, NM until her retirement to Sun City, AZ. She was very active within the community of Sun City as a church member, volunteer and was instrumental in the organizing the Sun City Pink Ribbon golf tournament to raise awareness of breast cancer. Memorial services for Ethel will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:30 P.M. at the United Church of Sun City, 11250 N. 107th Avenue, Sun City, AZ.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ethel's name to SCWGA Pink Ribbon at: Dottie Honsberger, 11084 Frontier Drive, Sun City, AZ 85351 or to the Untied Church of Sun City.
