First of its kind event in the Valley will provide virtual, in-person attendance

With all eyes of the sports world on Glendale for the Super Bowl, the growing world of esports will also have a Valley presence next week.

Esports are video games played in a highly organized competitive environment, and with engaged – sometimes worldwide – audiences watching. Types of games can range from team-oriented multiplayer online battle arenas to virtual reconstructions of traditional sports.

And as esports continue their integration into popular culture – to the notice of investors and media outlets – it’s big business, not to mention gaining popularity with universities, classrooms and business sponsorship.
