Equality and Fairness for All Arizonans Act seeks equitable protections for Arizona LGBTQ community

Among provisions proposed new restrictions on ‘conversion’ therapy

Proponents of an Arizona House Bill are calling proposed legislation a historic act in the pursuit of extending vital nondiscrimination protections for residents who are members of the Arizona lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning community.

Rep. Amish Shah, D-Phoenix, who represents Legislative District 24, and Arizona Speaker Rusty Bowers, R-Mesa, who represents LD 25, filed House Bill 2802 Monday, Feb. 7, at the Arizona Capitol.

The proposed legislation seeks fair rights in employment, housing, and public accommodations for the LGBTQ community while protecting religious rights for people and institutions of faith, the bill states.
