EPCOR’s rate proposal: The rest of the story for Sun City

This is part two of a two-part series about EPCOR’s proposed water rate hike. Part one, Aug. 20, focused on what costs Sun City customers are being asked to pay and why.

OPINION — There is another part of EPCOR’s current rate proposal that Sun City residents should know about: a new physical connection between the Sun City and Sonoran water systems.

EPCOR describes the connection as an operational improvement that could enhance flexibility and reliability. That may provide benefits. But connecting previously separate systems can also create new cost, operational and water-resource relationships that deserve careful examination.
