Environmental lawyer to be considered as Peoria’s city manager

Tyne proposed to leave sooner than expected

The new Peoria mayor isn’t wasting time in filling high-level positions following resignations in the past few months among city leadership, starting with the top non-elected official — city manager.

Mayor Jason Beck has called a special meeting, 6 p.m. Jan. 10, for council to interview candidate Henry Darwin, an environmental lawyer, as the new city manager. The interview will be behind closed doors in an executive session, followed by a public meeting for a council vote.

The public meeting will also include a consideration by council to terminate the existing employment agreement of sitting City Manager Jeff Tyne and replace it with a separation agreement.
