OPINION — Enough is enough.
For more than a decade, Maricopa County has been under federal control of its sheriff’s office — costing taxpayers over $350 million. That’s not oversight anymore. That’s a taxpayer-funded occupation.
Every dollar spent on this endless monitoring is a dollar taken away from real public safety — deputies on the street, faster response times, and safer communities. While crime and growth strain our resources, we are still writing blank checks to a system that refuses to end.
