‘Empower Hotline’ is reported to have 2,600 complaints made in just a week

A hotline established by the Superintendent of Public Instruction aimed at ferriting out reports of “innappropriate” subjects in Arizona classrooms has garnered more than 2,600 complaints in a week, according to the state.

But most of the calls are pranks, officials said, targeting a system detractors believe is taking away from real issues in the state.

Tom Horne, the Republican state superintendent, launched the hotline last week for state residents to report K-12 class curriculum and lessons they deem “inappropriate” in relation to critical race theory being taught in classrooms.
