Emergency Family Staging Center in Scottsdale brings national debate to local intersection

Records: million-dollar contract at Suites on Scottsdale

Views of protest at the intersection of Scottsdale and Mountain View roads marks the fervor of the national debate made local on how immigration laws, the nation’s borders and those found here outside of legal bounds ought to be handled as a defunct hotel became a holding and processing location for immigrant families.

Suites on Scottsdale at 9880 N. Scottsdale Road beginning June 1 became an Emergency Family Staging Center operated by the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, records and officials confirm.

The facility itself is within municipal bounds of Scottsdale, but with the Town of Paradise Valley an arrow’s shot away furious concerns, and “calls to action” were called upon from residents in both municipalities.
