Elisco: Thanks to the Valley’s EMS providers

Posted

As the challenges of coronavirus tested our nation’s resilience over the past year, we have all gained a greater appreciation for the vital contributions of front-line health care workers and first responders. Their tireless efforts put the safety of our patients and the community above all other priorities.

The month of May marks the annual recognition of Nurses Week, Hospital Week and EMS Week. Abrazo Health is proud to recognize those who commit their lives to providing critical, life-saving services and compassionate care to our patients and our community.

EMS Week’s theme, “This Is EMS: Caring for Our Communities,” is appropriate now more than ever. Emergency medical services providers are vital links in the life-saving teams who care for sick and injured patients in their most vulnerable moments. It is truly an honor to see our hospital staff and these local EMS heroes working side by side to provide care for our loved ones, friends and neighbors.

Abrazo Health is recognizing local emergency medical services personnel for their heroic work across the Valley during EMS Week, May 16-22. We honor those who demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism, form positive and meaningful relationships throughout the community, and positively impact the level of care received by our fellow citizens.

EMS providers are often the first point of contact for patients who receive emergency care in our hospitals. These first responders often perform feats that can be described as heroic during a call or incident. Their actions contribute to providing the gift of life to someone. They help provide education or injury prevention training for the community. With outstanding dedication to duty and service to the community, their personal actions demonstrate a high level of commitment to quality improvement and customer service.

There is much teamwork between emergency services practitioners and hospitals to serve our communities. Whether it is providing advanced stroke care at Abrazo Central and Abrazo West campuses, complex cardiovascular care at Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, delivering babies at Abrazo Arrowhead Campus, Level I trauma services at Abrazo West Campus, treating orthopedic and sports injuries at Abrazo Scottsdale Campus, or myriad other emergencies treated in all of our hospitals, a strong hospital-EMS partnership is vital to saving lives and minimizing the effects of illness and injury.

We offer a heartfelt “thank you” to those who are always there to respond in emergency situations of all kinds. We invite our friends and neighbors to recognize and thank these dedicated personnel who provide quality care throughout the year.

Our EMS partners answer the call for help day or night.

They are there for the community, and we’ll be here for them.
