Elections officials urge early mail-in ballot returns

Arizona voter registration deadline set for Monday, Oct. 5

With only 32 days to go until the election, officials say they’re ready for another record turnout on Nov. 3 —  but time is running out for those who’ve not yet registered to vote.

Maricopa County Elections Department spokeswoman Megan Gilbertson told Daily Independent her agency is ready to run a safe election, no matter how many citizens choose to participate.

“With just a month until Election Day, Maricopa County has implemented safety measures and expanded voter access to provide voters with a safe, accessible, secure and transparent November general election,” Ms. Gilbertson said. “We’re preparing for historic voter turnout and working to ensure voters continue to have options. We plan to make sure that no matter what option voters choose; it’s safe, accessible and secure.”
