Eleanor Russell, 87Sun City West resident Eleanor Aida Russell died April 2, 2008 at Odyssey Hospice in Peoria.Ms. Russell was born May 13, 1920 in Chicago, the youngest of six children in the Schiavo family. She graduated from Austin High School in Chicago and married Garth Lafayette Russell in 1941.After living in St. Louis 16 years, she and her husband retired in 1979 and moved to Sun City West. She was a faithful volunteer at Del E. Webb Hospital for 18 years and enjoyed square dancing and line dancing. She was a member of Grace Bible Church in Sun City for more than 25 years. At Grace, she sang in the choir, volunteered in the library and served on the social committee. Since 1972 she was a supporter of Okinawa Christian School International, where her children have served as missionaries. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997.She is survived by two daughters, Donna Russell of Peoria and Gail (Joel) Anderson of Sun City West; a sister, Rose Powers of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three grandchildren, Todd (Irene) Anderson of Chino Hills, Calif., Mark (Kathy) Anderson of Madison, Wis., and Elizabeth Russell of Sun Valley, Calif.; five great-grandchildren in California and Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. A memorial service was conducted April 10 at Grace Bible Church. A private burial preceded the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Okinawa Christian School Mission.
