Effort to rename bridge after East Valley Boy Scout succeeds

Gila River Bridge in Florence will now be ‘Rusty Greer Memorial Bridge’

An effort to rename the Gila River Bridge in Florence after an East Valley Boy Scout who was killed there 52 years ago has succeeded.

Pinal County Board of Supervisors Chairman Mike Goodman announced at the board’s Wednesday meeting that there would be a small ceremony on Friday to rename the bridge over the Gila River on State Route 79 on the north side of Florence the “Rusty Greer Memorial Bridge.”
