Effort to recall Deer Valley Unified board member apparently underway

Residents continue to speak out; Kim Fisher won’t resign but ‘will leave’ if voted out

At least one effort to start a recall election against a Deer Valley Unified School District governing board member appears to be underway.

On May 26, during an open board meeting, Kim Fisher, while disputing a scheduling conflict with board president Paul Carver on the dais, raised her arm in a Nazi salute and said “heil heil.” In the weeks since, community members have picketed outside the district office in Phoenix, called for Fisher to resign and spoken out during public comment portions of board meetings, including at the Tuesday meeting this week.

Fisher has said she won’t resign.
