Edward Lawrence Smith (Smitty), 75, died suddenly January 12, 2018, at a Sun City hospital. He was born January 25, 1942, in Chicago, IL, the son of Edward Henry Smith and Helen Gilcrease.Ed served in the U.S Army from 1959 to 1962. He married Karen Lynn Smigiel July 18, 1987 and moved to Phoenix, AZ. Earned an associate degree from Glendale Community College. After retirement, he enjoyed lawnbowling in Sun City and traveling and was known to be able to fix almost anything. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Helen and his sister, Marcy. Survived by his wife, Karen (Bielawa, Brishke, Smigiel) Smith, Step-daughters; Wendy Lynn Brishke and Jill Marie Jimenez and her husband Angel of Phoenix, AZ. Step-son William Brishke and his wife Jill of Richmond, VA. Sisters Carol Braun of Chicago, IL; Lee Holland, and her husband Ric of Surprise, AZ and Brother Jim Smith of Midlothian, IL. Grandchildren, Samantha Brishke, Daniel Brishke, and Cristina Jimenez. Many nieces and nephews,There will be no services, but a memorial is on Best Funeral Services.com
