East Valley teen’s simple act of kindness saves senior citizen’s life

Royal Cothrun was hot, sweaty and ready to head home when something along his e-bike ride made him stop.

An elderly woman carrying heavy bags was stumbling near South Valley Junior High. She seemed confused. And while plenty of people might have noticed something was wrong, the 14-year-old eighth grader decided to find out what.

That decision may have saved her life.
