East Valley district sees EVIT busing change as possible long-term model

More than a week after Gilbert Public Schools resumed transporting its own students to East Valley Institute of Technology, district leaders say the arrangement is providing a smoother system and could influence how EVIT transportation is handled in the future.

GPS began transporting all students requesting rides to EVIT campuses Aug. 10 after problems with third-party vendors used by EVIT during the opening weeks of school.

Under the arrangement, GPS provides the transportation and EVIT reimburses the district for the cost.
