East Valley district approves therapy dog partnership for campuses

Gilbert Public Schools will be able to use therapy dog teams on its campuses under an agreement approved Aug. 25 by the district governing board.

The board approved the partnership with Angel Dogs/East Valley K9 Services as part of its consent agenda, establishing requirements for district employees and their dogs to participate as pet therapy teams.

Under the program, participating employees must complete training provided by Angel Dogs, while their dogs must pass required evaluations and veterinary health screenings. Employees participating in the program are responsible for paying for the training and animal evaluations.
