East Valley city installs final LED streetlight, ending 7-year project

The Mesa Transportation Department on Thursday completed its LED streetlight installation project that converted all 46,064 streetlights to light emitting diode fixtures.

The final fixture was installed in front of the Transportation Administration Building, 300 E. 6th St. Mayor Mark Freeman was with Transportation Streetlight Technician Harry Hammonds in a two-person bucket truck to install the final LED light.

In 2019, Mesa began a seven-year commitment to convert all of the streetlights, according to a city release.
