Surprise is not in the position to unveil a large-scale nature trail or preservation area now, or even a firm time line for such a project.
As Surprise Parks and Recreation Director Holly Osborn mentioned during a Sept. 6 City Council Work Session, save for one major trail system, much of the trail land available for residents will be in the city’s northwest area and it will not be administered by the city for quite a while.
While not connected or maintained by Surprise, developers have granted 6.14 miles in nature trail land through public recreational easements.
