Early returns say more than one million Arizonans voted in favor of Prop. 314 —a measure that could allow local police and judges to enforce federal immigration law — providing a similar law is found constitutional.
As of 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, about 1,045 million Arizona residents voted in favor of the proposition compared to 659,400 —38.36%— who opposed the measure, according to the Arizona Secretary of State website.
Some opponents of Proposition 314 say it would allow state law enforcement to racially profile and wrongfully arrest and prosecute immigrants without seeing an immigration judge.
