Two Democratic challengers are leading Republican incumbents for seats on the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, according to early returns from the county recorders’ office. Two other Republican incumbents are leading their Democratic challengers.

The only incumbent Democrat on the board, Steve Gallardo, who represents the Southwest Valley, is the only supervisor not facing a general election challenge. The four Republicans on the board all face Democratic challengers in their re-election bids. Two of those four challengers are leading in early election returns as Tuesday night.

Challenger Jevin Hodge leads incumbent Jack Sellers 54% to 46% in District 1 in the Southeast Valley, and challenger Whitney Walker leads incumbent Bill Gates 53% to 47% in District 3, which is from central Phoenix north.

Incumbent Clint Hickman leads Suzanne Story 56% to 44% in District 4 in the Northwest Valley, and incumbent Steve Chucri leads challenger Deedra Abboud 57% to 43% in District 2 in the East Valley, the biggest margin of any of the contested races in early results.
