Earl T. Nickerson, 86Sun City resident Earl T. Nickerson died Oct. 24, 2007.Mr. Nickerson was born April 11, 1921, in Long Beach, Calif. He married Eileen Koerner March 8, 1947, in Long Beach.He graduated from Poly High School and attended Long Beach City College. He was employed as L.A. Texaco Refinery 23 years as an operator, taking early retirement in 1970. He moved to Aberdeen, S.D., and was appointed state sign shop supervisor by Gov. Kneip. He retired to Rapid City, S.D., then moved to Sun City in 1987.Mr. Nickerson was a World War II veteran, having served in the Merchant Marine and the U.S. Army.He served as chairman of city of Signal Hill planning committee and was in-plant steward contract negotiator for Local 1-128-AFL/CIO. He was a member of the South Dakota Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks, Sun City Democratic Club and the Tax Payers Association.He enjoyed swimming, dancing, bowling, billiards, reading and motor home traveling.Mr. Nickerson is survived by his wife and best friend of 60 years; a sister, Analou Kirklen of San Diego; and a sister-in-law, Sonja (Maurice) James of Seal Beach, Calif.The family is grateful for the wonderful care given by Capable Hands Care Home of Peoria and Hospice of Arizona.
