The Dysart Unified School District bills itself as a place for students to learn about academics, arts and athletics. But the arts portion of it might need some help from the city of Surprise.
The school district has reached out to the city about helping take over operations for The Vista Center for the Arts on the campus of Valley Vista High School, and the city has approved a feasibility study to see if that’s possible.
DUSD owns and operates the Vista since it was the Valley Vista Performing Arts Center more than a decade ago. A nonprofit was established in 2022 for the facility, which includes a 1,300-seat main stage, a 200-seat theater and large lobby space.
