Dysart FC has proven over the years to be more than just one feel good run, but the little soccer team that could from El Mirage has not looked this good since those heady days of early 2016.
That winter the Demons not only made their first boys soccer playoff appearance in at least 15 years. The 2016 team stormed to the No. 1 seed in Division IV — equivalent to today’s 3A — and reached the semifinals before falling to Buckeye.
That Dysart squad also planted seeds beyond campus, in the El Mirage and Surprise community. Current seniors Christian Avelar and Oscar Mendez had cousins on the 2016 team. Their team is off to an 8-0 regular season start and has been ranked in the top five of 4A most of the time.
