Dysart district staff details threat response protocols

A Surprise elementary school received a threat earlier this month via social media.

With similar threats happening nationwide, governing board member Christine A.K. Pritchard requested information from administration on how threats are evaluated to determine credibility and which communication protocols are in place.

Karen Winterstein, director of student services, said the safety of  DUSD students is top priority. If a school threat comes in, the site administrator is notified and verification begins, as well as a collection of informaiton to begin assesstments with student services, cabinet and law enforcement.
