School food services programs are also challenged with staff shortages.
Paul Stanley, Dysart Unified School District director of nutrition services. said the district is down 40 food service employees short, which is about 20% of the workforce in the nutrition department.
“Our goal is that students do not feel the employee shortage on their side of the serving line. Fortunately, we have an amazing team who are working hard for our Dysart students. The biggest impact this year is at the high school level. We’ve reduced the number of entrees offered each day from twenty-five or more to anywhere between sixteen and twenty, which is still far more options than most school districts offer their high school students,” Stanley said.
