DVUSD to vote on potential new elementary school

Campus would aid over-capacity schools nearby, but new district boundaries would draw controversy

A new elementary school planned for Deer Valley Unified School District may finally break ground this summer after two previous delays.

The governing board at its next meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 22 will vote on a maximum budget for construction of the new elementary school at the intersection of Inspiration Mountain Parkway and Pinnacle Vista in north Phoenix. The proposed budget comes out to $21,235,000, of which $20.4 million is authorized from the 2019 bond, plus another $835,000 in anticipated Adjacent Ways authorization built into the budget.

The proposed new school would break ground the second week of July, and would be expected to be open for the 2022-23 school year.
