DVUSD returning to in-person despite ‘substantial’ COVID metrics

Conflicting approaches surround pandemic, education

COVID-19 case numbers have spent December and January surging in Arizona, including Glendale, pushing health official-mandated safety metrics into “red” categories that once demanded online learning.

School districts, like Deer Valley Unified, however, are returning to in-person learning.

The State Superintendent of Public Schools fears in-person learning is unsafe. Gov. Doug Ducey, however, says the state may pull funding if in-person learning doesn’t continue.
