With signs indicating a safer community as Deer Valley Unified School District methodically works its way toward an environment perhaps not quite as driven by coronavirus complications, DVUSD is looking ahead at budget priorities for next school year.
The fiscal year 2022 Budget Committee presented its recommendations on developing priorities for the 2021-22 school year to the district board at its Feb. 23 meeting after public input on the priorities more than doubled from a year ago.
The committee’s initial public survey asked for feedback about top budget priorities to consider, and data were reviewed over winter break. The survey drew more than 2,600 responses from district parents, teachers, staff, business partners and the community, after around 1,000 completed the survey last year. Those priorities selected most were, in no particular order, competitive salaries, providing additional academic supports for students, salary increases for all employees, reducing class sizes, and enhancing programs.
